STRIKE MISSION - : ¡Que Chiva! – O'Neill

Sometimes, an alternative route is necessary. Due to travel challenges, the original plan for an off-the-grid strike mission had to be re-evaluated. The assembled crew of Torrey Meister, Noah Waggy, and fresh-faced Team O’Neill rider Shion Crawford relied on the experience of Cory Lopez to set a new plan.

Deciding on an area filled with punchy beach breaks and a few hidden reefs, the crew found themselves scoring a variety of high-performance waves in a not-so-remote tropical location. It's these types of trips that remind you to appreciate the people, cultures, and experiences that thrive in and out of the water. Plans change, and with an open mind, they can work to your advantage.

Joel Vaughan Wins Stab High Sydney

22 yr old Aussie O'Neill team rider Joel Vaughan, has beaten the worlds best free surfers and aerialists in the STAB HIGH event at URBN SURF. An epic event, featuring riders from around the world and including the recently crowned WSL surfing champion Yago Dora. A beautiful sunny day, saw the finalists going hammer and tongs in what came down to a tie break and pressure cooker situation. Joel threw caution to the wind on his very last wave and attempted a move he had never completed in the pool. A huge and crazy full rotation varial flip, that he landed cleanly to a massive roar from a packed stadium like crowd. Joel had put the world on notice already this year with his rookie year on the world tour, but this further cemented him as one of the best young surfers to watch in the years to come.

O'Neill X Surfline: Boat trips are hands-down the best way to go surfing — especially when you’re exploring remote island chains, like in the latest Maps to Nowhere adventure. Of course, boat trips come in all forms — from ultra-luxury mega yachts to… well, whatever it was that Ian Crane, Winter Vincent, and Beau Cram ended up on for this journey. “It’s like we’re camping,” Crane said. “On a boat.” “It took a bit to get used to,” Vincent added. “Tight living spaces. I woke up looking at Beau’s face every morning. But once you settle into it, boat life is sick.” The trio endured days of travel — planes, ferries, cars, buses — just to reach their starting point. From there, they spent more days motoring through atolls, islands, and reef passes, scoring no shortage of empty, perfect waves. Exactly the kind of surf Maps to Nowhere was made to celebrate. “A lot of people are stoked just surfing 20 minutes from their house,” said longtime surf filmer and photographer Nate Lawrence. “But some people I know are obsessed with travel — obsessed with finding uncrowded waves. I like my nice comfy bed at home, but I also love getting uncomfortable. Because when you come back, everything hits different. Welcome to the O’Neill Family! O’Neill welcome Ruby Berry to the team. 17yr old Ruby from South West WA, is no stranger to a raw and powerful ocean. Raised by two keen surfers in mum and dad, each year from being a bub to a teenager were months of camping in the desert, or off on an Indonesian adventure. These early years had a big effect on Ruby and it has carried itself into a young women who revels in hollow and powerful waves. Whether that’s in and around WA, or in Hawaii, where Ruby now is getting some experience. Ruby embodies our O’Neill spirit of adventure and love of the ocean and we look forward to supporting here in her goals and journey ahead. FULL BIO
