The hyperfreak wetsuits really hits the mark with warmth and freedom of movement. I also have the 3/2 short sleeve steamer and I can't see myself ever needing any else.

I use this top as a rash vest for sun protection not having to slather my body with sun cream. I like the extra warmth from this top - it that takes the edge off chilly conditions. I am a medium fit and this top is a perfect fit, the sleeves not too tight or too loose. I really like it.
Improvement suggestion - for extra comfort extend neoprene to lower side panel.

Lycra arms allows better paddling, neoprene body provides warmth and a bit of a cushion. Should be good as the temperature starts to rise.

the lycra sleeves are baggy in comparison to the vest part of the jacket and causes rash. I have had different vests from o'neil over the years and never a problem but seems an issue with the two materials marrying on this jacket. i have always had this size with o'neil also but the arms on this are bigger and baggy compared to the material in the vest. disappointing and can't really use

The Hyperfreak TB3X Neo/Lycra long sleeve jacket has been a most versatile addition to my O'Neill thermal gear. In colder water ( 16 - 18 C ) it makes my O'Neill short Johns that bit warmer without bulking up - important to ocean swimming of any longer distance. For late spring/ early summer when water temperature is 20+C. there is both stinger protection plus that extra warmth when swimming with a cold easterly wind chilling my spine while ocean swimming beyond 1klm early mornings. A useful product.
