It keeps me warm without hindering paddling.
I was surprised at the warmth provided by the 2 mm Long John. In Bass Straight about 14 - 16ºC water on an 18 - 20ºC day with a light breeze I only got chilly after a few hours when the clouds covered the sun and the wind picked up a bit.
I like a Long John because there is no restriction around the shoulders / underarms. My only minor gripe being that the legs below the knees are a bit baggy. But otherwise, it’s a good wetsuit.
